Stat of the Day

Felix Hernandez, of Seattle, became only the 4th pitcher since 1900 to start and win on Opening Day - when he wasn't yet 21 years old. The last to do it? Fernando Valenzuela, in 1981, for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Valenzuela went on to pitch 17 years in the bigs -- for 6 different clubs. During that time, Valenzuela compiled a 173-153 record with a 3.54 ERA.
