How Do We Feel About Reggie On The C's?

I can't believe no one has posted about this yet! We all know the Celtics have been making moves like diarrhea through a digestive system (which I'm all for by the way), but have they gone too far with trying to bust Reggie Miller out of the nursing home? I mean, I spent the greater part of my childhood HATING Reggie Miller, especially because half the time he was on the court, he was whining to the ref about how he just got fouled, the other half he spent absolutely draining 3's in Spike Lee's grill. Which brings me to my point. If we have to roll out Reggie in his wheelchair to knock down a couple of clutch 3's from time-to-time, I guess I'm all for it. I'm all for the Celtics coming out with their own version of the Dream Team and absolutely embarrassing the competition in the Eastern Conference. No? God I wish the Bruins were good, too! Hockey is still around, right?

Beantown is now Titletown, baby...and everyone wants to hook their wagon up to our shooting star. Randy Moss, KG, Reggie Miller...the list goes on. Personally, I can't wait until we win a World Series, Superbowl, and NBA championship all in one year. The lid is going to blow off this town.

***On a completely different sidenote, remember when Chieftain said this:

"It's 5 games...not 6. Tonight: Wang = Automatic win, Lester = Sweep"

Wow, how right he was!

It should be pointed out that first thing this morning, I commented in that post that I was here to face the music. I went on to say the following:

"A pet-peeve of mine is when analysts don't admit when they're wrong. Maybe my greatest pet-peeve in life.

I'm here to take my lumps about Wang's performance last night. Awful.

So go ahead, have at it..."

...As a side note, I think Jon Lester is even worse than I thought. And, this is coming from the person that already had the lowest opinion possible of him. Does he really believe that he throws 100 MPH. Because that's exactly how he pitches...gets behind in ALL counts, and then thinks he can blow smoke by everyone. He's an abortion to watch.

Then simply don't watch him pitch, it's really that simple Chieftain. Reality is he's a #5 starter, at best right now. He's still LH, throws 89-94, and is 23 yrs old...

Almost forgot to weigh in on this...

Don't want him. For a 42 year old that's going to cost around $5M, he's the same exact player as Eddie House. Doesn't make sense.

Also, such an acquisition would complicate matters for Doc Rivers. We all know that Doc doesn't have the slightest clue when it comes to setting a rotation. If you bring in a veteran presence like Miller, Doc is going to keep feeding Reggie minutes, thinking that it's still 1995. It's a terrible combination. Doc doesn't know how to say "no" to a player of name value.

The player the C's desperately should be going after is Sarunas Jasikevicius (a PG that can shoot). Imagine that?? His agent wants him in Boston. Hopefully, his agent and Golden State can work out a buy-out of his current $4M contract.

AS I POINTED OUT AROUND THE DEADLINE, THE RED SOX COULD HAVE HAD MARK TEIXEIRA if they just would have parted ways w/ Lester in some package deal.

I went to bed praying that Theo overvalued Lester. I'm just glad he did, b/c he's certainly not the pitcher that Red Sox fans BEGGED to be promoted since the start of Spring Training. It's shocking that you guys are just now realizing this.

THEY WOULD HAVE HAD TO DEAL LESTER AND A COMBINATION OF EITHER BUCHHOLZ, ELLSBURY, OR MOSS for Teixera. It's what they valued those 3, not Lester, which did not result in the trade.

Lester, Youk, & Hansen would have definitely gotten it done.

Moss?? I hope you're not talking about Brandon Moss. He hasn't been a prospect since 2004.

Jon Lester = Gerald Green

Hyped by the idiotic Boston fans that don't actually watch them play. And by this, I'm not saying that Boston fans aren't knowledgable. I'm just saying that there are a lot of fans in Boston that fall under the category which I like to refer to as "WEEI callers".

Jon Lester can't equal Gerald Green. One plays basketball and the other plays baseball. And one's white and the others black. You're such a dummy

Chieftain, why on earth would you include Youk in that trade based on 2007 stats? Here are some 2007 key numbers:

Youk- 104 G, 68R, 120H,12HR, 62RBI 54 BB,187 TB, OBP .4, 0.447 SLG .306 AVG

Teix- 85 G, 53 R 93H, 16HR, 58RBI, 48 BB, 169 TB, OBP 0.394, 0.535 SLG, .294 AVG

I know over the course of his career Teix is very good, a switch hitter, a gold glove 1st Baseman, and his career stats blow Youk's away, but Youk is exactly the type of player Theo likes, not to mention can also play 3rd to give Lowell a night off. Understandibly he is not your quintessential corner infielder, but given those stats I would not have included him in a trade for Teix.

Comparing Youk to Teixeira, a perennial 2nd half performer, is an argument not worth my time.

Teixeira is a top 30 player in all of MLB. Youk is a borderline top 30 player in the AL East.

You've been brainwashed by NESN.

That's a completely ridiculous comeback Chieftain. Leave it to you to come at me with a response like that.

Chieftain said...

It's the EXACT same scenario that you're trying to compare. Exactly the same. Now do you realize how ridiculous you sound?

Been out of the loop a while... Ridiculous? I gave you exactly what you stand by, numbers, and you basically blew them off. How to run an objective website... Good job...
